Charles Edward Willie
Charles Edward Willie, 91, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Nate Magloughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Llano cemetery.
Charles was born on August 12, 1926 in Jonesboro, AR to Kenneth L. and Lois M. Willie. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a radioman and earned the rank of Seaman. He married the love of his life, Betty Smith on October 13, 1946 in Amarillo. Charles worked at Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman/conductor retiring in 1987. He was 32nd Degree Mason and loved to fish. Charles loved to waltz and danced with all of the ladies in the room.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his aunt, Lucille Young and his grandson, Keith D. Willie.
He is survived by his daughter, Charla Frieze and husband Ed; two sons, Kenneth Willie and David E. Willie; his step sister, Delores Carney; four grandchildren, Kevin D. Willie, Sherill A. Denison, Chala R. Frieze and Aaryn M. Dunton and seven great grandchildren, Kendall Willie, Keifer Willie, Gunner Willie, Shayley Denison, Shilo Denison, Skylar Boyd and Gracelyn Dunton.
