Charles Leroy Thrasher
Born April 5, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK and was of Choctaw heritage.
Died December 2, 2014 in Amarillo, TX surrounded by his family.
A time for the family to receive friends will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by Volleys for Veterans.
Served in US Army in Korea from 1949 to 1953.
Charles married Jimmie Nadine Turner May 29, 1953 in Lawton, OK.
The couple moved to Lubbock, TX in 1954 where he attended Texas Tech University. Charles began working for Keebler Company in 1964. The couple moved to Amarillo, TX in 1968 where he became a Distribution Manager for Keebler Company. That job took them back to Lubbock in 1987. Charles retired from Keebler Company in 1991. The couple returned to Amarillo in 1999, where they made their home close to family and friends.
Charles loved his God, his wife, his family and his church. He was a deacon in the church. He also loved playing music with family and friends, and his music ministry included playing at nursing homes, retirement centers and the VA's. Charles was a great man of God, dearly loved by his family and many others.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jimmie Nadine Thrasher of 61 years, children: Debra Beasley and husband Gary of Amarillo and Alan Thrasher and wife Christi of Amarillo; grandchildren: Zane Beasley of Amarillo, Robyn Russell and husband Chad of San Diego, CA, Amy Berlin and husband Eric of Las Vegas, NV, Audrey Thrasher and Chad Tillotson of Henderson, NV, Amber Beasley and Shea Matoska of Amarillo, Amanda Thrasher and Vincent Parsons of Amarillo; great-grandchildren: Anthony Beasley, Madison Beasley, Allison Beasley, Rylan Russell, Nolan Russell, Paige Tillotson and Greyson Berlin. Charles also has surviving sisters: Juanita Cox, Myra Bettis, Francis Bates and Charlene Teal. Charles was pre-ceded in death by brother William (Bill) Odom. Charles also has many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
