Charles Lee Samples

Charles Lee Samples, 70, passed away June 3, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas.  Charles was born on September 18, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas, to Charles and Peggy Watson Samples.  He married Martha F. Samples on May 11, 1976, and was married for 48 years.   

Survivors include five sons and three daughters.  His sons were Tony (Kory) Samples with children Marlee and Sophie; Robert (Melinda) Samples with children Gabriel and Bella; Alex (Sabrina) Nieto and their children Nevaeh, Zaylee, Hazley, and Amias; Robert (Karly) Nieto with son Julian, and Albert Nieto.  His daughters were Mary Flores, Cindy (Billy) Ceniceros with children Damian, Cruz, Daniel, and Miya and Felicia (Stirling) Sanchez with children Noah, Aviana, S.J., Titan, his stepmother Alice Samples.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents Charles and Peggy Samples, and one son Charles Luis Samples.  

Charles loved many things in life, but the most important was his family.  He was a man who adored his children and grandchildren and especially loved to play with them when they were little.  He was “Grandpa” to most, but his little Sophie called him “Monkey.”   He was an only child and because of that, his desire was to have a large family.  Many of the other things he loved in life were his Diet Coke, sweets of any kind, computer games (especially Diablo), NASCAR, and Denver Broncos.  He also loved to fish and ride his bike—sometimes up to ten miles a day.  He also loved animals (always feeding strays) and detailing his truck to the extreme.

Charles was a simple man who will be remembered and missed by so many.
