Charles W. (Chuck) Jordan of Amarillo passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. Chuck was born May 26, 1927 in Hamilton, Kansas. He died after a six year battle with Alzheimer’s. Chuck left Ottawa High School in June 1945 to enter the U.S. Marines. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged in April of 1947. He remained an active reservist until 1949. Mr. Jordan married Allyne Buckner in Ottawa, Kansas on July 25, 1948. He began a thirty-seven year career with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company in 1948. The couple lived in Ottawa, Ks, Liberal, Kansas, and the Hansford Camp north of Spearman, Texas, Dumas, Elkhart, Kansas, and Meade, Kansas. Upon retirement they returned to Dumas but loved to snowbird in South Texas, and Mesa, Arizona. In 1996, they moved to Country Estates in Amarillo. As his children grew up he was active coaching baseball for the sons and softball for the daughter. He taught Sunday school and was active in service organizations, such as Lions Club. He would lend a hand to everyone and loved to build things. He built home additions, storage sheds, and a playhouse, ran concrete for all his children and made sure the grandchildren’s handprints were in it. Even as Alzheimer’s ravaged his mind, his body remained strong. Chuck always felt he lived a blessed life. He loved being at Country Estates. Most of all, he gave his children the greatest gift; he loved their mother as God intended man to love.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four and a half years, Allyne; his sons, Steve Jordan and wife Sheri, Don Jordan and wife Donna, his daughter, Linda Nichols; his Grandchildren, Jennifer Wyatt and husband Travis, Brad Jordan and wife Danielle, David Nichols, Beth Davis and husband Darin and Mark Nichols, Wade Jordan, Mike Seely and wife Traci and Matt Seely, his great-grandchildren, Jessica and Thomas Seely, Carigan and Delaney Wyatt, Shayleigh and newborn Tanner Don Jordan, Sylas Warren, Tristan Davis, and Zackaree Brooks; his two brothers, Glen E.
