Charles Joe England, 77, of Dumas passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2019 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Johnny Widener officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 - 7:30 on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the funeral home.
Charles was born on December 16, 1941 in Turkey, TX to Boley and Dixie England. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and served two tours in France and Germany before being transferred to Ft. Hood. As a Staff Sergeant, Joe trained our young men for Vietnam. Joe married the love of his life, Betty Montgomery on September 3, 1961 in Amarillo and they lived in Dumas, TX where Joe worked as an operator for Diamond Shamrock/Valero for over forty seven years.When Joe was a young boy, he and his brother would ride their bikes to the country club where they would caddy every day. This turned into a life long love for the game of golf and he played all the time. He coached his daughter, Dixie and he enjoyed playing golf with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his son, Marty England and wife Trina; his daughter, Dixie Bernson and husband Patrick; three grandchildren, Cameron England and wife Precious, Charles Bernson and Anna Bernson and husband Koby Dickey; five great grandchildren, Adley England, Sawyer England, Margo England, Caleb Bernson and Kohen Dickey.
