Chad Eric Burchett was received into his heavenly home on October 9th, 2021 after a long battle with health issues. Chad was an amazing son, brother, husband, educator and musician whose presence touched all who he came into contact with. Chad was a light whose presence will be greatly missed.
Chad was born on February 14th, 1979 to Terry and Patricia Burchett of Midland, TX. His childhood inclination for music led to his consistent drive to perfect his musical gifts which were evident in each and every instrument he mastered. Chad graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1997 where he performed in the “Mighty Rebel Band” and where he was an All-State band member for bassoon.
Chad worked diligently as he studied Music Education at West Texas A&M in Canyon, TX where he graduated in 2010. Chad was a dedicated member of the National Honorary Band Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. Chad was also an active member of the Wesleyan Student Ministries of WTAMU. While attending WTAMU, Chad met the love of his life, Amy Miller, who he often called, “The most beautiful and strongest woman ever.” Chad's life would forever be blessed as Chad and Amy grew in their love for one another which led to their marriage on November 24th, 2009.
Chad’s infectious personality and endless love for his students was always his driving force as he worked as an Assistant Band Director at Pecos High School, and Fritch High School from 2011 to 2017. Chad’s influence and passion for music education and drive helped to lead Pecos High School from a struggling band program to a Texas state performer in 2015. Chad served as the Musical Director at the First Methodist Church of Pecos as well. During this time, Chad was also active in drill writing, music curriculum development, and music education practice and development, all to benefit his students.
As Chad’s health began to decline, he continued to make music and seek out opportunities to reach out to others in need. Not only would he offer his drill writing services to area band directors, he would often take time to tutor and encourage his niece, Bailey as she began to play the piano and trumpet. At his lowest of lows, Chad always found the time to inspire and encourage so many with his humor and wisdom which reflected his intimate walk with the Lord. His strength and faith in God was made infinitely evident, in his later years, as he referred to his illness as his ministry. He often stated, “If God gave me this day, and while His grace allows, I want to take others with me to the Heavenly Gates.” Throughout the entirety of his illness, Chad was a light to so many nurses, therapists, and doctors as he often counseled them in their struggles, thus shining a light in the darkness.
Chad is survived by his bride, Amy Burchett, parents Terry Burchett and Patricia Deloera, brothers Christopher Voss and Michael Voss, Grandmother Billie Harvey, Aunt Joyce White, and Aunt Ruthie Burchett, his cousins Christy Burchett, Stephanie Rotan, Les White, Guy Burchett, Dwayne Brown, Debra Osborn, and Patty Jayne and his nieces Bailey Voss, Shelby Voss, Zoie Voss, Faith Voss and Rachel Voss.
Chad’s private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 12th at his In-Laws backyard, which was a favorite place of his, from 2-4 for family and from 4-6 for friends.
Play on as you are embraced by the heavenly realms. Perform for your Creator, music that resonates through eternity. A melody that never ends. A life which will never be forgotten.
