Cathy Byars, 91, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Nate Magloughlin officiating, Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery.
Cathy was born on August 18, 1926 in Cox City, OK to David Beehill Tate and Alice Mae Wilburn. She really enjoyed reading and playing games with her friends. She was very social and active at the Plemons Court Apartments and was always smiling and welcoming new residents. She loved to volunteer at the Amarillo Senior Citizens. Cathy was a Christian and a member and volunteer at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her dear friends and traveling to see her children and she will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; a daughter, Carla A. Herrick and three sisters, Bonnie Dotson, Helen Dotson and Opal Hinson.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie Comer and husband Ron, Beverly Batte and husband Harrell and Betty Pryer; a son, Mike Pryer and wife Ruthie; a brother, John Wilson Tate and wife Janet; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
