Carolyn was born August 22, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri unto Paul and Glynn McCoy Burgan. She was raised and educated in the Springfield area. She met and married John Russell on October 24, 1946 in Gerard, Kansas and then moved to Aurora and Billings Missouri to begin her family. The couple moved to Amarillo in 1960. Carolyn loved her family and the Lord. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and collected bells and Angels.
She was known as “Grandma” by all the neighborhood “latch key” children whom she fed snacks to and helped mentor in their school work. She was a devoted and loving wife to John for 61 years. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and former member of the Altar Society at St. Mary’s.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three daughters Jane Stockett, Genevieve and Glynna Russell, a sister Marolyn Arlene Medlin and a grandson Christopher Dondlinger.
Survivors include her husband John of the home, and daughter Charlotte Wagner and her spouse Robert C. Roe of Claude, TX, one brother Paul Burgan of Amarillo, TX. Six grandchildren Kimberly, Michael, Angela, Nikkole, Maggie and Shon. Seven great grandchildren Zachary, Isaac, Wyatt, Destiny, Jordan, Cheyenne and Mackenzie. Three great great grandchildren Araiyah, Mckaya and Swayze. Two nephews Victor Medlin and John Paul Russell
