Carl Henderson Jr., 69, formerly of Amarillo, Texas passed away from his life on Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home in Houston, Texas. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 9, 2019 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Rev. Joe Coffer officiating. Burial will follow immediately after at Llano East Cemetery.
Carl was born on June 29, 1949 to L.B. Banks and Fannie (Bea) Hill in Bryan, TX. He was a member of the final graduating class of Carver high School in 1967, and attended Texas Southern University where he played football. Carl Began his business career at Levi's Strauss in Amarillo, Texas before joining Xerox corporation in Lubbock, Texas where he worked for several years before returning to Amarillo to pursue his dream of starting his own printing business called the Carbon Copy. He joyfully volunteered his time coaching his children in soccer, basketball and softball over the years and umpiring throughout the City of Amarillo. Carl enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting and loved spending weekends with family and friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lesley Baker.
Carl is survived by his four children, Romona Slay-Henderson of Rodeo, CA; Robyn Henderson (Anthony) of Houston, TX; LaToya Jackson (Carl) of Amarillo, TX; and Derek Thompson (Renee) of Missouri City, TX; his sister, Kirby Hampton, of Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
