C.F. Secrist, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with the Rev. Barry Loving and the Rev. Regi Fowler of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
Mr. Secrist was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Woodward, Okla., to Charles and Mary Secrist. He graduated from Woodward High School. He served in the 49th Infantry Division of the Army during World War II in central Europe and the Philippine Islands. He received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, EAMET Ribbon, APT Ribbon and a Good Conduct Ribbon. He married
Sterlene Pittman on March 18, 1961, in Amarillo. He worked for 15 years for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and then was a
purchasing agent for DePauw
Construction Co. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church, where he had been an elder for many years and was also a member of Journeyman Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Sue Carrell; and a stepdaughter, Linda Secrist.
Survivors include his wife, Sterlene Secrist of Claude; a son, Ed Secrist and wife Sharon of Amarillo; a grandson, Steve Secrist and wife Miranda Carroll of Yukon, Okla.; two granddaughters, Tracy Carr and Tammy Breckenridge, both of Amarillo; and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church, 3001 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, TX 79109.
