Byron Stanley Parsons, age 70, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. A time for the family to receive friends will be Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Jim Shelburne, pastor of Washington Avenue Church of Christ officiating.
Byron was born in Amarillo to William Stanley and Lena (Harrison) Parsons December 8, 1943. He graduated with the class of '62 from Palo Duro High School. He married his wife of 46 years, Janeece Throckmorton in Amarillo on September 15, 1967. He proudly served in the US Navy Seabees from December 1961 until November 1967. Byron worked from 1966 until 2008 for Rock Island, Burlington Northern and BNSF Railways retiring as an Engineer.
Byron is survived by his wife Janeece of Amarillo and a daughter Kim and husband Alan Altman of Amarillo, a son Shannon D'Shane Parsons of Amarillo and two grand daughters Ashlee Daneece and husband Cason Colliflower of Houston and Tabitha Danielle Proffit of Amarillo. He also leaves behind a sister Zona and husband Lester VanHuss of Amarillo and a sister-in-law Andrea Throckmorton of Amarillo. He was anxiously anticipating the birth of his first great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.
