Bonnie Carol Green

Bonnie Carol (White) Green, age 70, of Amarillo, TX passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:00 am at Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo, with Jerry Morgan officiating.
Bonnie was born in Muskogee, OK on August 28, 1943 to Carl Samuel and Ali Augusta (Smith) White. She grew up in Muskogee and then attended Oklahoma State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education. While attending OSU, she met the love of her life, Ben Green, and they married June 10, 1965.
Bonnie worked for Amarillo ISD for 10 years as an educator, and she was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. Bonnie was actively involved in Sharing Hope Ministry, whose mission is to educate, encourage, and assist women who are incarcerated. She had a special place in her heart for Patsy's Place, a branch of Sharing Hope Ministry that provides a transitional home for women coming out of incarceration and helps them re-integrate into society.
Outside of work, Bonnie’s many artistic talents included quilting, gardening, cooking, and making personalized greeting cards. Bonnie loved to travel, and she and Ben enjoyed numerous trips together throughout the United States and Europe. She also delighted in spending quality time with her three grandchildren, Josh, Becca, and Faith Dowell.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack White and Tom White.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years Ben Green of Amarillo; two daughters Jennifer Dowell of Amarillo and Rebecca Green of Dublin, CA; two brothers, Monte White of London, OH and David White of Muskogee, OK; and two sisters Betty Blakeslee of Muskogee, OK and Karen Barrett of Farmers Branch, TX.
