Bobby Hollis Wilson

Bobby Hollis Wilson, 71, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Mantooth officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.

Bobby was born April 19, 1940, in Borger to Herbert and Juanita Wilson. He married Patricia Marak on March 30, 1963, in Borger. He attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University and West Texas State University, where he was lieutenant commander of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Bobby was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was involved in prison ministry. Bobby was an avid Oklahoma University fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching children at Kids, Inc. He was general manager for many years at Villa Inn in Amarillo, and he later retired as a sheriff’s deputy for Potter County, while belonging to the Fraternal Order of Police. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his 11th great-grandchild.

Bobby was a loving and wonderful husband, daddy, brother, papa and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; four daughters, Tiffany Gathings and husband Chris of Elk City, Okla., Valisa McHugh and husband Mark of Amarillo, Misty Wilson Guy of Pampa and Kristy Wilson of Chicago; a son, Bobby Wayne Wilson and wife Rebecca of Amarillo; three sisters, Evelyn Stephen of Panhandle, Colleen Hooper of Borger and Barbara Richmond and husband Eugene of Fritch; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Tracie, Jana, Kinzey, Andre, Jessica, Alexis, William, Douglas and Sykora; five stepgrandchildren, Alexzandria, Amber, Ashton, Aubreauna and Addison; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106; Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or Temple Baptist Church Youth Group, 3208 S. Van Buren St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
