Joe Kirkland,79, of Amarillo died on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Memorial services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Joe was born on November 15, 1936 in Dumas to David and Nellie Kirkland. He proudly served his county in the United State Navy during the Korean War. Joe married Roxie DeBault on September 5, 1978. Joe owned and operated Kirkland Bricklaying for over fifty years and has taught many masons the art of laying bricks. He was a golden gloves boxer and also boxed in the Navy. Joe enjoyed playing all kinds of games from poker to dominoes. He enjoyed all kinds of country music including Patsy Cline, fishing and to satisfy his sweet tooth, he loved a piece of chocolate. Joe was a man's man who will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Kirkland, his mother, Nellie Davis and his step father, Jewell Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie; a son, Mike and wife Angie; three daughters, Sandy Paulhamus and husband Kirk, Anna Wallace and husband Gene and Delina Boyd and husband Chris; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers and five sisters.
