Bobbie Cleo McMurtry, 89, of Amarillo died Thursday, January 21, 2016. Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, January 29, 2106 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dick Marcear minister of Church of Christ at the Colonies.  LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter Street.

Mrs. McMurtry was born August 10, 1926, in Kirkland TX to Rev. Robert C. Jones and Lois Verna Garner.  She majored in music at Abilene Christian College.  She married Raymond C. “Bud” McMurtry on July 15, 1945, in Amarillo TX. Bobbie grew up in a happy Christian home.  She always loved life and was always a very happy person, always smiling, laughing and whistling.  Her attitude was contagious to all who knew her.  She was a wonderful homemaker.  She loved to cook and was very talented at decorating her home.  In 1963, Bobbie began working with Con-Stan Industries and rose to District Director, which afforded Bobbie and Bud travel opportunities to Europe and South America. Bobbie loved her family most of all.  She enjoyed raising her children and being close to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Her family was very important to her.  Bobbie loved her church and church family at Central Church of Christ of Amarillo where she attended all her life. She loved to play golf and tennis, fishing in the mountains, reading and playing bridge with her friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Robert C. and Lois Jones; her husband Raymond C. “Bud” McMurtry.

Survivors include her brother, Jon E. Jones and wife Joan; daughters, Judy McAlpine and husband Frank; Molly Bogan and husband Bobby; four grandchildren, Lee Taylor and wife Trina; James Taylor and wife Christina; Becky Corthell and husband Dan; Breann Fierro and husband Tony; 11 Great Grandchildren; Nephew, Jeff Jones and wife Joann; nieces, Jan Patterson and husband Jeff, Julie Brown and husband Scott; 8 great nieces and great nephews; two niece-in-laws, Darylene McDonald and Susan Grundy.
