Billy Eugene Thomas, age 78, of Amarillo passed away Friday, January 31, 2014. Graveside services will be Monday, February 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Mobeetie Cemetery in Mobeetie, Texas with Rev. Jeff Cates, officiating. A time for the family to receive friends, will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at LaGrone Balckburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
Billy was born in Mobeetie to William Baxter and Emily Lee Thomas on August 30, 1935. He graduated from Borger High School and worked most of his life as a pipeline inspector supervisor for Phillips Petroleum. He married the love of his life Barbara White in December of 1954. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, three sons Billy E. Thomas Jr. of Midland, Bobby Thomas and Tim Chancellor both of Arlington. He also is survived by four grandchildren Amanda Gawlik, Audra Pietraszek, David Chancellor and Jeff Chancellor as well as two great grandchildren Andrew Gawlik and Bailee Chancellor.
