Billy Joyce Nelson, 91 passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was born January 26, 1931, in Dallas Texas to Fred and Inez Fletcher.
Joyce loved life and the adventures that came with it. She recounted living on a farm during hard times. She married Charles Nelson on October 26, 1953. The two had a long and happy life together. They traveled and worked the pipeline across the country, finally settled in Amarillo, and were blessed with a son, Harvey. They worked together covering floors across the panhandle. After Charles passed, Joyce devoted all her time to family, she cared for her grandchildren every day creating an unbreakable bond. She became the backbone and foundation which everyone relied upon. She was a giving person, always putting others first, She gave love to everyone she met along with a bright smile. Joyce was creative all her life crafting album books, paper flowers, dolls even craftsmanship. That creativity overflowed into cooking which she adored. Joyce had a passion and dedication to it, a talent that amazed others. She loved nature and animals, cultivating plants in the garden. When she fell ill she never gave in, no matter the pain or limitation she continued to push through it. She taught everyone to never give up. That hope is always there. She gave unconditional love that has passed on to future generations. Joyce lived a long extraordinary life, most importantly Joyce lived.
