Billy D. Carathers, 77, of Amarillo died on Friday, July 1, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Greg Corona of Hillside Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Bill was born on November 24, 1938 in Floydada to William and Addie Carathers. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and on the day of his graduation married the love of his life, Judy Rockhold in Cactus. Bill proudly served his country in the National Guard. He loved being an amateur radio operator and his call sign was K5CLH. Bill was an extraordinary artist and loved painting, drawing and woodworking. He painted several pictures of Palo Duro Canyon and eagles. His leather tooling projects including miniature saddles and purses. Bill and Judy loved to travel to see their children wherever they lived and also loved going to the mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; one daughter, Tammy Andre and husband Edward; one son, Brad Carathers and wife Stephanie; three grandchildren, Lisa Geary and husband Derek, Brandon Carathers and Michael Carathers; two great grandchildren, Tanner and Cheyenne Geary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to BSA Hospice/Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Dr, Amarillo, TX 79106.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, July 4, 2016 from 1pm - 3pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
