Mykie was her happiest when she was working and holding a child. She loved her children and her grandchildren, including the little ones she taught in Sunday School at the Nazarene Church in Plainview, Texas and the children of “Watoto” children’s orphanage in Uganda, Africa. This is when you observed her best, biggest and brightest smile.
Mykie attended Tascosa High School and Palo Duro High School and Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas; she obtained her Licensed Vocational Nurse Certification and worked with Northwest Texas Hospital until she became a mother. She was a great stay at home mother to her three children. When Curtis was in middle school she returned to work as a nursing assistant and office manager for an obstetrician-gynecologist in Plainview, Texas. When Curtis began college, Mykie returned to South Plains College in Levelland, Texas and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she worked with Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, Hospice and completed her career as a home health care administrator.
Mykie, being an only child, adored and loved her vast family. She enjoyed all the family gatherings, celebrating birthdays, holidays and the togetherness of fellowship. She was a great hostess to family, friends and her church family, and especially loved playing games. While attending college, Mykie was an avid archer; she was honored as a runner up for “Miss Amarillo”, Mother of the year at First Church of the Nazarene in Plainview and she and Eddie were recognized as Resident Couple of the Month at Hidden Springs of McKinney.
