Billie Jo Hopson

May 18, 1931 — April 15, 2014

Billie Jo Hopson, 82, of Amarillo, died April 15, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10am Saturday April 19, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Road, with Chaplain Jeff Messer of the Bivins Community officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors of Amarillo are in charge of arrangements

Billie was born May 18, 1931, in Amarillo to Donald M. Holman and Margaret Richardson Holman. She grew up in Amarillo, then moving to Hereford where she graduated from Hereford High.  There she met and married Glenn Hopson where they raised three children. They then moved to Moriarty, NM in 1965.  Billie was active in her community, sang in the church choir, President of the Chamber of Commerce, owned and operated Billie's Fashions.  Returning to Hereford in 1972, she worked and retired from Sugarland Feed Yard after 23 years of service.

After her retirement, Billie moved to Amarillo where she lived until her death.

She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Hereford, and once she moved back to Amarillo, she transferred her membership to St. Stephens Methodist Church.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Donna Jean Lookingbill.

Survivors include one son Donald Hopson and wife Pat of Santa Teresa, NM; two daughters Edana Harvey of Amarillo; Joie King and husband Rocky of Moriarty, NM.,
eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and many family and friends.

Memorial contributions in honor of Billie may be made to Hospice Care of the Southwest, or the Downtown Women’s Center.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm today at the funeral home.
