Mrs. Billie G. Hayes, 76 of Amarillo passed away on December 11, 2011. Her service is schedued at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Road, Amarillo, TX with Pastor Chris Moore of Bykota Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cememtery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel.
Mrs. Hayes was born July 21, 1935 in Caney, OK to Lee and Kate Earhart. She graduated from Ada High School and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree from East State Teacher’s College in Ada, where she also excelled at basketball. Billie was very active in the early days of computer technology in business in the 1960’s and 1970’s and she founded Certified Credit Consultants and owned and operated that business until her retirement in 2004. She had a tremendous work ethic and was a tremendous leader in all that she did and she passed those traits on to her children. She was a devoted and exemplary mother and she had a passion for Boy Scouts of America. She was very involved with her sons in Scouting for many years and help found several Scout Troops. She received the Baden-Powell Award, which is the most esteemed award given to Scouting volunteers. Mrs. Hayes was an accomplished artist and loved painting with oils. She was an excellent musician and was the pianist for many years at several Baptist Churches locally. Her family was always first in her life and she loved spending time with them. She also loved playing Mexican Train Dominoes with her many friends at Park Central. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband, William R. “Bill” Hayes in 1998 and her husband James O. Johnson in 2010.
Survivors include her two sons, Roger Hayes and wife Terri and Robert Hayes and wife Brenda and five grandchildren, Will Hayes, Ashliegh Brewer, Kori Hayes, Caley Blandford and Currey Blandford.
The family suggests memorial to Bykota Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
