Bill Joel Grant

May 5, 1945 — February 6, 2022

Bill Joel Grant, age 76, went to his eternal home on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in Amarillo, Tx.  Bill was born on May 5, 1945 in Plainview, Tx to Olen and Edna Grant.  He grew up with an older Brother, James, and younger Sister, Patsy.  Bill graduated from Plainview High School in 1964.  He became self employed as a general contractor with his Brother, James.  Together they were known as a “Jack of all Trades.”  Their jobs consisted of professional painting, framing houses, roofing, and all types of odd end jobs.  Bill took great pleasure in working with not only his Brother, but his best friend. They were inseparable.

Bill had many hobbies and interests. He loved to fix things up around the house, collecting die-cast cars and trucks, working in his new workshop, and riding his Harley Davidson.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson on the open road admiring the scenery.  Bill loved to travel with his wife, Gwenda. They shared many special memories while traveling, especially to the mountains.  They enjoyed each other’s company playing cards with friends and family.  Bill was a devoted husband and loved Gwenda dearly.  He lived to protect, love, and honor her.

Bill was greatly known for his love of baseball.  He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.  He inflicted his love for baseball on his 3 boys and grandchildren.  He took great pleasure in coaching his 3 boys and many other kids.  He was even awarded Coach of the Year with Kids Inc.  He found so much joy and happiness in watching his boys grow to love the game as well.  Being a dependable Father was of the utmost importance to Bill, and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.  He was a member of Church of Christ in Amarillo for many years.  Bill’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life.  He was a faithful man of God who loved the Lord.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Gwenda Grant; along with four children; Kenny Grant and wife Suzanne of Claude, Tx, Kelly Grant of Amarillo, Randy Grant and wife Jennifer of Amarillo, and Coby Pitts and wife Jessica of Amarillo, Tx; thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and many loving Nieces and Nephews.
