Beverly Marie Cothern

Beverly Allen Cothern, 54, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012.  Holy rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington St., with Monsignor Harold Waldow as celebrant. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.

Mrs. Cothern was born July 5, 1957, in Amarillo to Ted and Berniece Allen. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1976.

Mrs. Cothern was a loving
and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, and she was known as the “neighborhood mom.”

Mrs. Cothern was a kind and generous person who was known for her concern for others. She loved to garden, and she was always building and making things. She also enjoyed all kinds of crafts. She had a great sense of humor and was a strong person and a fighter until the very end.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Allen; and her father, Ted.

Survivors include her husband, Freddy; three sons, Baeron Houchin and wife Shannon of Weatherford, Toby Houchin and wife Summer of St. Mary’s, Ga., and Jack Cothern and wife Tiffany of Cedar Park; her mother, Berniece Allen of Canyon; two sisters, Sharon Harvell and husband Edward of Canyon and Tammie Gray and husband Larry of Amarillo; four brothers, Kelvin Allen and wife Cindy and Pat Allen
and wife Shelly, all of Canyon, and Tom Allen and Ron Allen and
wife Jill, all of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Mason, Madison, Mallory, Ethan and Easton.

Vistation will follow the rosary from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
