Betty Jean Winburn of Amarillo, TX went to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 11:45 p.m. at the age of 77. Betty was born in Houston, TX to Clarence and Margaret Lucas on April 15, 1945. She married Don Winburn in 1965. They separated, remained friends, and managed to raise 4 children together.
She is survived by Don Winburn of Leander TX, son, Scott Winburn, of Amarillo, TX, daughter Angela Winburn, and spouse Oralia Martinez of Renton, WA. Daughter Brandy Dafun and spouse Anthony Dafun of Biloxi MS, daughter Evalyn Wheat and spouse Joshua Wheat of Amarillo, TX, and sister Pat Walker Of Canyon, TX Grandchildren include: George Guichet and wife Kayla of Mississippi, Bruce Winburn of Amarillo, Craig Guichet II of Alaska, Ashley Winburn Of Amarillo, Dakota Wheat of Amarillo, Gigi Register of Mississippi, Jean-Luc Guichet of Mississippi, and Breannah Wheat of Amarillo, Great-grandchildren include Leon and Jayce Guichet of Mississippi and Ellie Duke-Winburn of Amarillo.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Clarence, and Margaret Lucas, and sisters Frances Lamon and Doris Gibbs all of Amarillo.
She graduated from Amarillo High School. She retired from the Amarillo Police Department where she devoted over 10 years of service typing for the narcotics unit. She attended the Assembly of God and worshipped her Father even when she couldn’t attend church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, her hobbies included morning bible readings, crocheting, cross-stitching, coloring, dream home designing, spending time with her family and friends, camping, living and loving others.
