Betty Pauline Hawthorne, 84, of Amarillo died on Thursday, July 23, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Chaplain Ken Branum of Accolade Homecare and Hospice officiating. No Graveside services are scheduled. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Betty was born on December 29, 1930 in Pampa to Ollie Paul and Mary Jo Hawthorne. She moved to Amarillo in 1958 and went to work at Northwest Texas Hospital in the medical records department retiring after 30 years of service. Betty was an avid golfer and a bowler. She was also an active member in the Red Hat Society for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in law, Richard Cole and a niece Mary Baker.
She is survived by a sister, Ina Jo Cole of Phoenix; two nieces, Stephanie Cole O’Brien and husband Elmer and Kimberly Martinson and husband Bob, both of Amarillo; a nephew, Jay Cole and wife Leja of Denton; and several great nieces and nephews as well as several great great nieces and nephews and close friends.
The family would like to thank Accolade Homecare and Hospice as well as Plum Creek Hospital for all of their care and kindness.
