Beachie “Big John” Lee, 79, joined his Heavenly Father on Aug. 19, 2018. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Church at Quail Creek. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
John was born to Henry J. and Ada Lee in Clovis, N.M. on Nov. 21, 1938.He graduated from Clovis High School in 1955, enlisted in the United States Army, and served until 1958. After being honorably discharged he married the love of his life, Beverly, on Sept. 17, 1964 and the couple enjoyed almost 46 years of marriage where they raised two boys before her death in April 2010. A model of hard work, John worked for the City of Amarillo for 24 years and Polk Street United Methodist Church for 17 years. He retired from Polk Street United Methodist in 2003 and the City of Amarillo in 2016.
A selfless, charitable Christian man, he was a devoted member at the Church at Quail Creek for four years before his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beverly.
He is survived by two sons, John C. Lee and his wife Darla, of Amarillo; Robert Lee of Olean, N.Y.; three grandchildren; John C. Lee, Jr. and his wife, Maria; Christina O’Dell and her husband, Ryan; Victoria Miller and her husband, Brandon and three great-grandchildren Peyton, Oliver and Alexander.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 9:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
