B F Essary of Amarillo passed away on December 11, 2017. Graveside services will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, December 16, 2017 in the Silverton Cemetery with Chaplain Scott Willis of US Department of Veterans Affairs officiating.
B F Essary of Amarillo, TX was born on February 15, 1931 in Dozier, TX, Collinsworth County, and passed away on December 11, 2017 at the age of 86 years old.
B F was raised in a farming community. His family raised cotton, corn and maize. On August 19, 1952 he joined the US Army and served 2 years during the Korean War. He was injured when his ship was struck by a torpedo and spent several months in Germany recovering. He also survived 2 plane crashes during his short Army career. He later made his living as a truck driver and spent most of his career working for Walmart and Plains Dairy. In his earlier years he was a cowboy and remained an avid fan of the rodeo. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies and playing poker with his friends and family. He was a great man with a fun sense of humor, a generous heart, and a strong love for his family. He made friends everywhere he went. He will be truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Harrison Essary & Ruby Bell Nixon; his brother Johnny H. “Buck” Essary; sisters Rosie White and Opal Essary; half-brothers Ben Essary, JC Essary; and half-sister Lucille Dudley.
B F is survived by his wife of 15 years, Veda Roselle Morris; son Casey Essary and grandson Craig Essary of Amarillo, TX ; granddaughter Deanna Boedeker and her husband Clent of San Antonio, TX; brother Marvin Essary and wife Sue of Hillsboro, TX; sister Margie Fern Carpenter of Amarillo, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Courtney, Dirk and Cameron Boedeker; numerous special nieces and nephews including Frank Welch of Dimmitt, TX.
