Aurelia Garza, 69, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 surrounded by her family. A wake service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday November 24, 2107 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Barragan as celebrant. Burial will follow in llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter Road.
Aurelia was born on October 18, 1948 in Amarillo to Joseph H. and Marie T. Aguilar. She grew up in Amarillo where she attended local schools. Aurelia married John Garza on August 2, 1970 and they raised their family. She owned and operated Garza Income Tax Office for 29 years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She loved to travel with her husband and cook for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Margie Preciado, a brother, Joseph H. Aguilar Jr. and a granddaughter, Stephanie Olivas.
Mrs. Garza is survived by her husband, John Garza; her children, Candy Ortega and husband Juan, Melisa Neal and husband James and Manuel Garza; three brothers, Gene Aguilar, Gilbert Aguilar and Edward Aguilar; four sisters, Sadie Cortez, Erma Betancourt, Cindy De Los Santos and Evelina Hernandez; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
