A.P. Sanford Jr., 83, of Amarillo died on Sunday, August 16, 2015. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
A.P. was born on December 19, 1931 in Childress to A.P. and Lydia Sanford. He married Mary Blasingame in February 1950 in Clovis. A.P. proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. A.P. returned to Amarillo and owned and operated Sanford Painting Contractors and The Old Time Shoppe on the square in Canyon. Mary and A.P. enjoyed antiques and flea markets. A.P. was very active in the Randall County Posse and along wife his wife, they were Dallas Cowboy fans. A.P. loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his two sons, Rick Sanford of Ft. Worth and Steve Sanford and wife Kris of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Sullivan of Colorado, Steven Cole Sanford and wife Jordan of Lubbock and Autumn Parker Sanford of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to: BSA Hospice.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, Monday, August 17, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
