Arthur Lee Haley, 75, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 5, 2016 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Russ Baker and Ron Kohler of Westview Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honor provided by Vollies for Veterans. Arrangements by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Art was born on October 3, 1940 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Leslie and Ellie Haley. After high school he joined the United States Army on August 6, 1958, where he served in Vietnam. He retired on August 31, 1978 after 21 years of honorable service to his country. Art married Teri Ethington on December 5, 1964 in Amberg, Wisconsin. After his retirement he received an Associate Degree from Amarillo College. He worked with W W Electric and later Firehawk Safety Systems. He was a member of Westview Christian Church, and he was a mason and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Teri Haley; a son, Dean Haley and wife, Debbie; two daughters, Tammie Thigpen and husband, Jonathan and Kathy Hosler; two brothers, Leslie Haley and wife, Ruth and Jack Haley and wife, Sue; nine grandchildren, Gregory Swain and Christina, Tania Swain, Haylie Wheaton and husband, Ted, Cameron Pace, Shay Smith and Elizabeth, Austin Haley, Benjamin Jenkins, Sean Smith and Reed Haley; four great granddaughters, two great grandsons and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family will receive guests on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
