Alton Utsey

Alton Utsey, 84, of Amarillo died on Monday, October 27, 2014. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 31, 2014 at Second Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Alton Utsey was born on December 18, 1929 in Keechie, Texas to Benjamin and Lillian Utsey. He graduated from Buffalo High School. He proudly served his country until retiring in the Air Force during the Korean war and the Vietnam conflict. He married the love of his life, Irmgard on December 1, 1950 in Wiesbaden, Germany. Alton worked for Pantex until retiring after 30 years of service. Alton loved to go camping and fishing in South Fork, Colorado. He also loved woodworking and smoking foods in the backyard on one of his smokers. He loved his dachsund, Hans and will be greatly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Irmgard, two sons; Alan Utsey and wife Gail, Barry Utsey and wife Eula; a daughter Linda Saddoris and husband Shelton, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
