Alfonzo G. Linares, 87, former Altus resident, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. A rosary service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Lowell-Tim Funeral Home, 1100 E. Tamarack, Altus, Oklahoma. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Altus Cemetery with Rev. Cory Stanley, Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, Texas.
Alfonso was born on January 23, 1929 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Manuel and Margarita Linares. He married Raquel G. Guevara in Mexico on March 14, 1947. They moved to Altus, Oklahoma where he worked as a farm hand and later as a florist at The Blossom Shop. Alfonso was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He will be great missed by those who loved and called him daddy, grandpa and Tata.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Raquel Linares, a daughter, Margarita Pettus and two sisters and a brother.
He is survived by a son and daughter- in- law, John and Mary Ann Linares, of Altus; a daughter, Petra Chavarria, of Amarillo, Texas; son in law, Jim Pettus, of Lahoma, Oklahoma; two brothers, three sisters, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the funeral home.
